The European Youth Olympic Festival 2017 (EYOF) is currently taking place now, as from the 23rd to the 29th of July in Gyor, Hungary.

Held under the patronage of the IOC, and the pride of the European Olympic Committees with 25 years of tradition, the EYOF is the first top European multi-sport event aimed at young athletes aged 14 to 18. The event takes place under the Olympic flag, and is rich with Olympic traditions and is a meeting point for young athletes from 50 European countries.

When planning the development work for EYOF Győr’s city government decided to apply modern sustainability and energy management criteria to the new facilities and the related developments in cooperation with utility mogul E.ON and local companies.

After careful consideration AVReporter Energy Management Software was chosen in order to match the followings:

  • Collect data from different type of meters (electrical, gas, water and heat meters)
  • Information to be accessed by both web browser and desktop interface
  • Visualize Key Performance Indicators
  • Monitor and calculate applied green energy performance (solar collectors)
  • Quick report building web and desktop environments
  • Schedule report creation for management site and E.ON
  • Analyze the data by applying mathematical and statistical methods

"Reliable operation, as few service interruptions as possible, meeting new energy needs in full: these are the goals"- adds E.ON.

New facilities include the Aqua Swimming Center complex with the first 50-meter competition pool of the city which was finished by the end of 2014 and has already hosted various prestigious events since then; the Olympic sports park, a new multi-functional sports centre with an athletics centre, an 8-lane running track and running corridor, nine tennis courts, a gymnastics hall, a hall for combat sports, and a multi-purpose hall. The venue is built up on 8 acres consisting of 24.000 built in m2s.

Paul Ford, Team GB Chef de Mission at Győr 2017 said: “… it’s great to officially welcome these 50 young athletes to Team GB. There’s a fantastic mix of sports in our delegation this year and some real pedigree among the athletes selected… Returning home from Győr with a haul of medals will be a great achievement for the team but the experience these athletes will get being part of a multi-sport event for the first time will be important and invaluable learning as they look to progress their sporting careers. We have seen a number of our senior Olympians go on to do great things after being selected for an EYOF and potentially some of the next generation of Team GB stars will be with us in Hungary.”
