Croatia offers grants for industrial energy efficiency projects

Croatia's Ministry of Environmental Protection and Energy is looking for new energy efficiency projects in the country's industrial sector, Balkan Green Energy News reports.

The ministry recently published an invitation for the co-financing of projects that would raise energy efficiency levels and increase the use of renewable energy sources in industrial production.

A budget of HRK114m (around EUR15m) has been secured from the European Regional Development Fund for grants to implement selected projects, with the aim of helping manufacturers to improve the efficiency of their operations and reduce the use of fossil fuels.

The initiative is part of the government's Competitiveness and Cohesion 2014-2020 programme. It is open to micro, small, medium and large private enterprises and companies registered for production and processing activities, except for those involved in the production and processing of food, beverages and tobacco products.

Project proposals can cover the renovation of production facility and office buildings to raise their energy efficiency levels, as well as the installation of equipment needed for the use of renewable energy sources in production facilities across Croatia. Proposals will be accepted between 10 November 2017 and 17 January 2018.

Grants will range from HRK350,000 (approximately EUR46,000) to HRK20m (around EUR2.6m) and can cover between 55% and 85% of the total cost of the project.

Funds will be allocated within 120 days of the closing date for submissions.
